Spring Training Fitness Plan
ByTwice a year I notice people going crazy over their fitness training routine-New Years and spring-break. Out of these two, I think spring-break racks up more in terms of people getting serious about fitness. People are more motivated to get fit because they wear less clothing and show more of their bodies. Sadly, most people don’t keep up the habit and end up on the fitness roller coaster.
Do you want to burn more calories, slim those abs, and have your body ready for spring showing without working real hard? Change your fitness routine to produce some results even if you don’t want to work out at the gym.
Make Fitness Fun
Being fit shouldn’t be hard. Actually, it should be a pleasure. Lately, I spend a significant amount of time walking. It gives me quality time with my wife and 2 boys and it’s free. We walk 3 times a week for an hour. Two years ago I plunked down a few hundred dollars on a rebounder (mini trampoline) and have the time of my life bouncing for fitness. I can watch Youtube videos, listen to music, or even watch a movie while getting more fit.
Keep It Simple
I have several bicycles and I use an old beat up mountain bike to ride back and forth to the BART station where I catch the train to work. It’s only a mile and it sure beats trying to find a parking place.
I installed a pull up bar in the door frame of our bedroom. How hard is it to do 3 or 4 sets of 10 repetitions every day?
Once a week I go to a 1 hour yoga class at the local 24 Hour Fitness Center. This is my hardest exercise routine of the week. It’s hard but very relaxing. I used to fall asleep during the relaxing part of the class. I know, sleeping is not exercise!
Twice a week I take my 2 boys on an 8 mile bicycle ride and I run beside them. We enjoy throwing rocks into the pond and watching trains cross the old bridge. Several wipe outs and crashes happen on every ride.
Vary Your Routine
My fitness routine is everything but routine. I try to vary it every day so I don’t get bored and quit. If you don’t like eating the same food every day, why should it be any different with your work out? Spice it up and enjoy your fitness program.
