I just spent 15 minutes sending out 4 emails to prospective affiliate marketers with huge lists.  I am keeping track of statistics to make sure that I am not wasting any time.

This is my journey to building a huge affiliate marketing empire and I encourage you to join me and make yourself successful as well!

Blogging For Money

Posted by: Mark Keeler | Comments (0)

Today, I am starting a new category for my blog.  It’s going to be my journal on how to make money online with a personal blog.  The blog will be a journey through my trials and tribulations.

I will journal exactly what I am doing.  You will be in the passenger seat right next to me.  Sometime you may even grab the wheel from me and say “Hey, you are going the wrong way!”.  I am open for comments and discussion.  Let’s get the ball rolling and start playing the game instead of watching the game!

My first plan will be to change the theme of my blog from a personal collage of my life to a blog catered to the entrepreneur.

I am at ground zero.  It’s the start of the race.  My first mile stone will be to have several affiliate marketing programs going bringing in a few hundred dollars a month.  This blog will be a self supporting cash cow.

What a great way to make money at home by doing something that I love to do-blog!

Let’s blog for cash and teach other our secret methods.  It’s my stimulus plan.

I can vividly remember back in November when my wife Idy and I decided to venture into new territory and pursue our dreams of writing.  It seemed that it was almost accidental finding Joel Comm.  I was researching a web developer’s site and came across Joel Comm’s free Adsense Secret 4 book (Adsense Secrets 4.0).  I was wondering who this Joel Dot Com guy is?  I down loaded the book and the rest is history!  I had never read or written a  blog before.  Within a few days, I had started 3 Blogger blogs.  My wife started 2.

I really knew that we were on to something.  Shortly before Christmas, I watched a video with Mike Dillard and this funny  guy named Perry Belcher talking about Twitter.  Twitter?  Perry Belcher?  It almost seemed like a joke!  Whoa!  Joel Comm announced  that he had authored a book called “Twitter Power”   Maybe this Twitter thing was not so weird after all.  I pre-ordered Joel’s book and impatiently waited 6 weeks for it to be delivered.

The book is an easy read.  You don’t have to be a geek to understand it.  Joel explains that it okay to be yourself.  However, he insists that you use proper “Twitter etiquette”.  We could all use a little social etiquette in our day to day talking.  Don’t interrupt a conversation.  Don’t walk up to strangers in a cafe and just sit down and start talking.  Twitter works the same way.  He explains the proper way to enter a  Twitter conversation.

What I have learned most from Joel’s new book is to properly brand myself.  I have only one shot on Twitter unless I change my name.   Joel says that the only way to be successful is to really give more than you receive.   Twitter is not the place to directly sell your stuff.   Building a following is more important than making a sale.  Joel is market savvy and knows how to monetize  his followers.   Joel’s methods have really worked on me .  I went for the free Adsense Secrets 4.0 book.  I get his monthly news letter The Top 1% Report.  I purchased Twitter Power.

Do you want to learn how to dominate Twitter?  Get the book.  Sure you can wait until you find a used copy online.  By then your competition will have over 10,000 Twitter followers and you will have your 1000.

Small is good.  140 words at a time.

I came across another cool tool for spicing your blog.  It’s called JING.  http://help.jingproject.com

Click on the URL and see a sneak preview on how Jing works.  This is an actual JING video with audio.

JING VIDEO

The website goes into the specifics on how to record and play.  It takes less than 5 minutes to be up and running with your first screen capture.

JING works great for making online tutorials and prentations.  The free version has a 5 minute record limitation.   But hey, it’s FREE!

I found a great WYSIWYG plugin for WordPress.  It should make editing your blog much easier!

  1. Go to the WP plugin and directory and search for TinyMCE advanced.  Download and install this plugin.
  2. Activate the plugin
  3. After activation, go to Tiny MCE Advanced under settings and build your menu bar.  If you put too many choices, it will spread over into the left side of dashboard.
  4. Create a new post and enjoy this new feature!

The Search For a WP Optin-Page

Posted by: Mark Keeler | Comments (1)

I have spent several hours looking how to create an optin-page on my WP blog.  After several hours of digging though hundreds of pages, I think I may have found a template.  I will test it out before I write any more.

Blogging is great.  I can write down my personal trials and tribulations.  At the end of the day, I want to provide resources to other bloggers and help them monetize their site!

I am amazed at all the free help that is available within the social networking community.  Often, I find people offer help as a courtesy and introduction to themselves.  Recently I started following a young blog writer in India.  He said “If you need help with anything just ask.”

My wife and I started blogging in October of 2008.  Both of us now have several blogs running thanks to the help  of dozens of people in Facebook and Twitter.  It’s been a lot of fun and a huge learning curve.

Most of the big players in social networking such as Joel Comm, Dave Evans, Mike Dillard, and Perry Belcher became big names because they offer so much help and information for FREE.

Follow the leaders to your own path of success.

Time

Posted by: Mark Keeler | Comments (0)

In the digital age of social networking, I have to slow down and remind myself to keep relationships real and face to face with my family.  My wife and kids are part of my network.  However, they need face to face time.  Can you imagine telling your kids to email you or connect to Facebook for a family outing?  I have nieces living across the country and I do connect with them on Facebook because they are thousands of miles away.

Tunnel Vision

Tunnel Vision

Today, I am going to take my family for a walk around Lake Elizabeth.  It’s almost 70 degrees outside and we need time together.  My wife and I walk while my 2 boys ride their scooters over, through, and around everything.  We usually witness at least 4 crashes before we complete the 3 mile loop.  My wife and I have time to catch up and talk.  My kids get to exercise and explore.  I would like to remind my wife to leave her Ipod at home as it’s a distraction for good conversation.  How do I tell my most beloved to give me 100% attention?  Some things are best left unsaid.  She likes to relax with music in the background.  I like things quiet.

Making time for our families should not be a chore.  I love to get all of us together for play times.  After we walk the lake, my boys want to play street hockey.  I get right out there with them and play the game.  They want to get rough and so do I.

The key is to choose activities that your kids like.  If you don’t particularly enjoy the activity, just enjoy the moment of watching your kids play.  Everyone needs an audience.  What my kids enjoy, I enjoy.  What I am trying to say is that I enjoy watching them.  I realize that each day with them is a gift.  When they are 20 years old, they will not be doing the goofy things that they are doing at ages 6 & 8.  When they are riding their scooters around the lake, they hide behind bushes or rocks that are almost in full view.  As long as they hide their eyes, they think that we cannot see them and so we make a game out of it, pretending that we see the scooters but not them.  It is so precious!

Every minute with your children is a gift.  Enjoy it because the time not spent with your kids will never come back.  Time spent will.  You will remember it forever.  Chances are they might remember it too, but don’t count on it.  Children live for today and forget what happened yesterday.  They don’t hold on to the past.  Parents do.  When you spend quality time with them, you will live a life with no regrets.

Puppet Show Pension

Posted by: Mark Keeler | Comments (0)

I just returned from the most awesome puppet show-me!  I played the parts of Bucky the Beaver, Sally the Snow Owl, and Larry the Lion.  Rather than putting pennies into their pension funds, I am adding hours into their time bank account.  I grabbed 2 puppets out of the hand puppet bin and hid them.  I slipped out into the hall and threw some clothes into the washing machine to distract the boys.  My oldest son Josiah asked  “Daddy, can we do a puppet show?”  He had no idea that I was going to do a puppet show.  This made my night!  I was more excited than they were.  Our theme for the night was on being nice.  My youngest son comment that his older brother makes him a slave.  I asked him how he does this.  He said “Josiah makes me clean my bed room.”  Kids say the precious things.  The puppet show ended after 15 minutes because everyone was sleepy.

My wife found an article about how little time people really spend with their kids.  I need to have her find it so I can post it.
